Thanks for coming back for more of my friend, Amy Sheehan, who aptly calls herself “Lover of Humans.” If you haven’t heard the first half of this interview yet, go back and listen to Ep 33; we’ll wait right here….
Today, I take the risk of asking Amy if she and I have ever had a conflict. (Turns out we have!) She takes the risk of reminding me of the rupture we had a few years ago and how we worked through it. (Fights with friends don’t usually get resolved this quick- just remember, this was after years of practice for both of us.)
We also discuss an upcoming appointment I had set up with a pastor to help mediate a different conflict with another friend. Now you see why, for years, I wondered if I was a “conflict magnet.” Amy assures me it’s just God’s way of training me to use my gifts. (YEAH, RIGHT!!!! 🙂
Seriously though, through my experiences, I’ve found that the point of our greatest wounding can become our most effective place of ministry. Do you have a friendship worth fighting for?
We talk about another favorite Bible study among many of our peeps here in the Nashville area- Waking Up Grey by Jennie Schutt (whose interview is coming up soon!) and Amy talks about why she had a fight or flight response the first time she heard about this study, which is all about helping you discover your creative identity.
As leader of Together Ministries (which she launched to reach the underserved in our community,) Amy has had us each pray about our “word of the year” from the Lord and she has made it a practice every year to pray for every one of us around that theme for the entire year.
Amy talks about her process of forgiving (which included the throwing of a few sharp knives) and realizing her need to “forgive” God, which she acknowledges as not exactly theologically correct, but she explains that it was a breakthrough in her healing to see how she’d been blaming God for her wound. To see the “Forgiveness” painting she refers to in this interview, feel free to email her at Amysheehanart@gmail.com. It will also be on my instagram and blog http://heylovepodcast.com
Warning; I get teary in this episode!!! Sorry for the sniffling and snorting!! I know my podcasting coach might deem it “unprofessional” (as would my teenage daughter) but it’s real bc friendships like this are a treasure and I never want to take them for granted.
